ZDF Removes Popular Crime Series from Today's Program

ZDF viewers experienced a change in their Monday evening routine as the Mainz broadcaster made adjustments to its program, resulting in the removal of a beloved format. Let's find out the reason behind this decision.

ZDF's daily TV program typically follows a predictable pattern, offering shows like "Die Küchenschlacht" and "Bares für Rares" during weekday afternoons. At 4:10 p.m., fans usually tune in to watch "The Rosenheim Cops," followed by a new episode of the "SOKO" series two hours later. However, today, viewers will have to do without the latter.

Normally, ZDF would have aired a new episode of "SOKO Hamburg" at 6:05 p.m. on Monday. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the episode titled "Deadly Turn" had to be postponed and will now be broadcasted on June 19th instead.

In this episode, the lifeless body of world sailor Tamme Althuus (played by Oliver Sauer) is discovered in the docks of a Hamburg yacht club. Every year, he would dock there to raise funds for a project in Africa. Now, Chief Inspectors Oskar Schütz (Marek Erhardt) and Lena Testorp (Anna von Haebler) lead their team in determining whether his death was an accident or murder.

So, what will ZDF air instead? At 5:35 p.m., the international football match between Germany and Ukraine will take place. This match holds significance as it marks the 1,000th international game for the German national team and aims to symbolize peace while standing against Russian aggression.

The football match is expected to conclude by 8:15 p.m. During halftime, viewers can catch up with the news program "Today" and the weather forecast. However, this change in schedule means that fans will miss out on 50 minutes of "Wiso" on Monday.

Following the football game, viewers can enjoy the television film of the week, "Die Toten vom Bodensee," featuring the episode "Der Seelenkreis." This episode is a repeat, originally airing in November 2021 and attracting an audience of 7.34 million viewers at that time.
